NEWSFLASH: We are in the process of rebuilding the GLOSS user database, as many of the entries could be out of date. All registered users of this site, and all the people signed up for the newsletter, will get an email (so if you are registered on the site and also signed up for the newsletter you'll get two emails!) asking them to confirm their email address is still valid by re-registering.

We only need your email address for now, to see if you're still there. An email will come from me (a_thorn@hotmail.co.uk) so you know it's proper, and will ask you to click on a link. You'll be taken to a webpage where you can enter your email address. If you're here anyway, you can re-register here.

New items have now been added to the 'NEWS' section of this website. From now until the end of the GLOSS transition period, all updates of news and opportunities for artists will be added to the 'NEWS' page, so you know exactly where to look.

All registered users will shortly be contacted by email to confirm their current contact details. As this email will not come from the GLOSS address, the 'sent from' email address will be announced here on the front page, so you know the mailing is authentic.

Greetings, GLOSS arts users...

...and welcome to this brief update designed to bring you up to speed with evolving thinking and practice for GLOSS now that funding for the organisation has ceased.

As a starting point this website will be now be updated by us, Andrew Thorn and Jarek Adams of Timezones Curriculum Support Ltd, in collaboration with The Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham.  We will make sure you are kept abreast of changes in arts education policy and have the “upstream” intelligence about funding, training and commissioning opportunities.

We are one strand of a wider GLOSS “transition plan”, funded by Create Gloucestershire to ensure the resources, learning  and expertise of GLOSS are retained in the sector. Other strands include:

  • personalized funding support for artists
  • innovative arts based projects with vulnerable young people
  • a partnership project between FE/HE and schools to improve understanding about the creative industries

Please click here for more details.

Timezones focus is to minimize the impact to your business of the GLOSS brokerage service disappearing.   We are keen to co-design with you (whether you are an artist, teacher, funder, planner or other practitioner) what happens next and how we can enable a thriving arts education sector in Gloucestershire in the coming years.

Initial ideas on the table at the moment are to replace GLOSS with a three-pronged approach:

  1. Artists increase their own web-presence to ensure schools and other educational venues can easily find, contact and hire them
  2. District based arts venues become local hubs for arts education and provide support and advise for artists and teachers wishing to develop an arts activity
  3. Create Gloucestershire provides a county overview, strategy and advocacy

We will update by email all the artists, teachers and others on the GLOSS database as things evolve.

Timezones expertise is in helping artists, organisations and schools to harness the Internet to promote and market themselves. In the New Year we will deliver two free training sessions for artists and arts organisations in Gloucestershire. who wish to increase their web presence and impact. Further details will follow but if you want to express an interest in these sessions please register here.
